GUIDING RIVER DOULA BIRTH SERVICES - "ANCESTRAL WISDOM MODERN EMPOWERMENT"
WEIH (SHE/HER)
I am a 2nd generation Liberian American born in Boston, and grew up in the embrace of Minnesota’s beauty, surrounded by a large and loving community. With a B.S. in Chemistry, a journey to Berlin brought a calling to birth work.
Guiding River offers care that flows through knowledge, physical support like myofascial release therapy, and deep emotional presence.
Rooted in intentional, intersectional community support, Guiding River is dedicated to economic, racial, and reproductive justice, standing beside families of all incomes through every outcome of pregnancy.
WHY GUIDING RIVER?
Childbirth is a life-changing journey, and
there is no other time in life where one is
asked to become so many things.
Childbirth is a life-changing journey, and
there is no other time in life where one is
asked to become so many things.
Together we will celebrate this wonderful
time and you will have the
confidence to go forward into parenthood.
Here at Guiding River I aim to provide clients
with information, advocacy and preparation for
your birthing experience. You should remember your birth with fondness, feel protected, heard and uplifted throughout this time.
I believe in going above and beyond for my clients. You and your family will receive a service that is loving, honest, and educational.
The continuous presence of a doula during labor has been shown to instil confidence in the birthing person and to provide greater satisfaction in birth.
The birth of a child represents a significant change in your life and the people around you. During the fourth trimester, every family can benefit from the support and encouragement provided by a doula.
Doulas Make a Difference
Guidance is the foundation of doula care, which involves providing information, practical physical assistance, and emotional support.
Doula care is a return to the tradition of one-on-one assistance
during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period.
POSTPARTUM CARE
Having support during the postpartum period, the time after you have your baby, also has many benefits, including:
- Better postpartum adjustment
- Less postpartum depression
- Lower incidence of abuse
*as recorded in the DONA International Position Paper: The Postpartum Doula’s Role in Maternity Care
Postpartum doula support can
take on a variety of forms from helping with
day-to-day tasks and overnights so that life
doesn’t get overwhelming and you can
focus on self-care and rest.
I am willing to travel for birthwork services.
